Piraeus, Focus Group Technical Meetings, Energy and Environmental Retrofitting of Public Spaces: Innovative Methods and Perspectives
KiNNO Consultants Ltd., in cooperation with the Municipality of Piraeus, organized and implemented two technical meetings under the framework of the European project "REPUBLIC MED- REtrofitting PUBLic Spaces in Intelligent MEDiterrenean Cities".
The aim of the meetings was to bring together experts from sectors relative to the project (engineers, researchers, academics etc) with representatives of the contracting authority (Municipality of Piraeus) and the Greek technical partner of the project (Center For Renewable Energy Sources), in order to discuss and analyze aspects of the REPUBLICMED methodology to be applied under the pilot project activities.
The 1st Technical Meeting, which was organized on the 15th of May 2014, was entitled “Methods for Energy Assessment of Buildings and Valuation of Environmental Conditions in Open Spaces”. During the 2nd Technical Meeting that was held on the 29th of May 2014, “Measures for Energy and Environmental Upgrade of Public Buildings and Open Spaces” were presented and further discussed.
The events focused on the presentation of obstacles and problems identified in the methods of energy valuation of buildings and in the implementation of retrofit measures. The participants had the opportunity to exchange their views and knowledge in a round table discussion, as well as to be informed about the latest industry developments, legislation and problems that should be tackled by Greece in order to secure funding from the EU.
