Athens, PowerUp! 2018 Country Final in Greece – Bootcamp & Results

After the careful evaluation of the applications 8 teams were invited to participate in the 2-day preparatory bootcamp and the PowerUp!2018 country final in Greece.

Bootcamp: The 8 finalists had the opportunity to attend a two-day bootcamp that took place on the 12th and the 13th of May at the offices of KiNNO. During this bootcamp every team worked closely with expert coaches and a mentor on their business case and their pitch. These were:

Country final: The PowerUp!2018 country final in Greece, was successfully completed on the 14th of May 2018 at the premises of the National Bank of Greece (Pireos 74, Moschato), where the 8 finalists presented their business ideas in front of the jury of the competition and the audience.

The finalists had at their disposal 4 minutes to present their business idea and convince the jury. After each presentation or pitch the jury had 3 minutes for questions or comments on the presentation. For each team the Jury had to answer one question: “How likely are you to invest your own money in the presented start-up?” on a scale from 1 to 5.

The members of the jury this year were:

•        Mr. Spyros Arsenis, Business Seeds Coordinator of the National Bank of Greece

•        Mr. Yorgos Mousmoulas, Partner at Metavallon VC

•        Mr. Dionissis Spiliopoulos, Lean startup Educator and ex. President and Managing director of Schneider Electric Greece

•        Mr. Michał Kraszewski Business Creation Manager at InnoEnergy and chairman of the Jury.

 

The winning team was Recytrust, which is developing an IoT quantitative recycling performance technology & collection service to disrupt the waste management sector.

NanoTC, a team that is developing a solution for energy efficiency and heat regulation won the 2nd place and EFESYS, a startup that is developing a solution for increasing Renewables in Microgrids won the 3rd place.

Community Energy River – A platform for energy communities

Enerfil – Digenis Photovoltaic solar station

Ledapp – An app for purchasing LED lamps

Recycglobe – An intelligent waste management system

Solar Networks – A marketplace for small RES systems

Recytrust will represent Greece in the grand finale of the PowerUp! competition in Prague and it will compete with the winners of more than ten country-wide finals across CEE.

The best ideas will be given the opportunity to participate in the InnoEnergy Highway®, a business accelerator that aims to commercialize sustainable energy business ideas, giving financial support and consulting services for the development of their idea worth up to € 150,000. Moreover, the European contest will highlight three winners. The first winner will receive a cash prize of € 30.000, the second € 10.000 and the third € 5,000, while all participants will benefit from new business contacts and advice from experts and professional mentors.
