The aim of the HADRIAMED project is to enhance the role of isolated, mountain and island areas in a modern socioeconomic context, through the development of a territorial planning focused on attraction of new residents. The project has been implemented under the ARCHIMED, Interreg IIIB initiative.
The project intends to devise strategies for spatial planning development aiming to the revitalisation of isolated areas and the decongestion of urban areas. The project includes three areas: mountain regions of Southern Italy, insular and continental areas of Greece and one rural Municipality in Cyprus. These areas face the following common problems: negative demographic trends, increasing of average age of population, logistic difficulties and obstacles in market accessing, lack of communication systems and of services to enterprises, low valorisation of a tourist offer environmental friendly, reduction of available resources, risk of hydrogeological disarrangement.

KiNNO Consultants LTD. has successfully served the project’s implementation by delivering the appropriate research and studies within the involved Greek areas, pilot actions aimed to attract new residents in isolated areas, experimentation of connections in isolated areas utilising wireless technologies, networking among local development actors, vertical and horizontal mainstreaming and dissemination activities.
