22-23/02/2016, Athens, International Workshop: “Cooperation between EU and Mediterranean Partner Countries in the Energy Sector: Challenges and Opportunities”

The International Workshop on EU and MPCs Cooperation in the Energy Sector will be organised in Athens, Greece, on 22-23 February 2016, by the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving - CRES. Its aim is to discuss the challenges and opportunities as well as barriers and threats to develop cooperation in the Energy Sector between the EU and MPC countries.

The discussions will be focused in the three pillars of MARE Project: EE in Buildings, RES Desalination & RES Microgrids. The exchange of information will include identification of future needs, most promising cooperation sectors, technology gaps and priority setting, towards EU and MCP funding.

The workshop, which is mainly considered as a networking event, is addressed to companies, technology centres, research institutes, universities, policy makers, coordinators of projects in the project area, SMEs representatives amongst others.

The workshop will take place in the Hotel Crowne Plaza Athens.

The workshop is organized in the framework of the project MARE. The main objective of the project, is to bridge the gap between research and innovation in the EUROMED area in the technological pillars of renewable energy microgrids, renewable energy desalination and energy efficiency in buildings. Among its main activities are:

  • To establish a Network of Actors in the EUROMED area
  • To map and identify suitable technologies, knowledge and methodologies in the three above pillars
  • To promote market uptake of energy innovation
  • To promote exchange of best practices and future collaboration between European Union and Mediterranean Partner Countries (MPCs)

KiNNO participates in the Workshop as a partner in MARE Project. The company focuses on Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and acts as an intermediary between researchers, engineers, businesses and investors to accelerate the deployment of innovations in the market. In addition, KiNNO acts as a Sustainable Energy Innovation Broker for the international client KIC InnoEnergy (KIC).
